U.S. Xpress Driver Runner-Up for Trucking Award
Driver Summar Hanks wins $5,000 award as a finalist

Chattanooga, TN. (December 14, 2018) – Summar Hanks has been driving for less than two years with U.S. Xpress, but that is not stopping the Air Force veteran from already making big moves. Earlier this month, Summar received a $5,000 award as runner-up for FASTPORT’s annual Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award.

FASTPORT’s award campaign is part of an initiative to help members of the military community find career opportunities.

Summar served in the United States Air Force in 2008 as an Information Management Specialist. She then joined the Louisiana Air National Guard as a staff sergeant and began driving with U.S. Xpress.

Co-workers describe Summar as an exceptional person with a strong dedication to service. Military Recruiting Manager for U.S. Xpress, Don Moore, went to show support for Summar during the awards ceremony.

“While attending driver appreciation day in Olive Branch, Mississippi, I was so impressed with her infectious smile and her willingness to be an ambassador for U.S. Xpress. She took picture after picture with other drivers and our staff from the Olive Branch terminal. I knew then and there that we had a natural recruiting professional in our midst,” said Moore.

U.S. Xpress President and CEO Eric Fuller said, “U.S. Xpress has long been supportive of our nation’s military families. I’m proud to see Summar recognized among veterans in the industry.”

Summar’s award is the second time in a row that a U.S. Xpress driver has made it to the Transition Trucking finals. Last year, U.S. Xpress Driver Wayne Roy was one of the top three finalist.
