Local Drivers Receive Wheat Ridge Travel Center Dedication

TA/Petro recognize exemplary drivers with award and Wheat Ridge, CO travel center dedication

Chattanooga, TN (June 21, 2018) – Travel Centers of America, operators of TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, renamed their Wheat Ridge Travel Center location the “Danny and Cindy George Travel Center” on June 20, 2018. This honor was received as part of Danny and Cindy winning the 2018 Citizen Driver Award on May 9, 2018. Among the professional drivers TA/Petro recognized were U.S. Xpress team drivers Danny and Cindy George of Henderson, CO.

Now in its fifth year, the TA Citizen Driver Award was created to recognize professional drivers who promote public respect for the transportation industry. Award winners exemplify good citizenship, safe driving practices, community involvement, health and wellness, and leadership, and Colorado natives Danny and Cindy George exemplify these characteristics.

Safety
In their 29-year career, Danny and Cindy have driven over six million miles combined without an accident or safety violation, and just in their nearly 15 years with U.S. Xpress, they have earned 14 consecutive safety awards.

Community
Danny and Cindy support many charities and community organizations, from Compassion International to Denver Rescue Mission. They are also involved in the Trucker Buddy International program, which matches drivers with K-8 classrooms to educate and mentor students. Additionally, Danny and Cindy often volunteer to work Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays so that drivers with children can be with their families.

Health and Wellness
Danny and Cindy are involved in a lot of driver-oriented health programs, from the Truckin’ Runners Facebook group to their two popular health blogs. Danny also competes in marathons and triathlons, including the 2016 Half-Ironman.

Leadership
Together, Danny and Cindy have led many driver initiatives, but one of their most important roles has been to help start the U.S. Xpress Driver Mentor Program. This program assists new hires to complete training and become better, safer drivers.
