U.S. Xpress implements new temperature checks to help prevent
COVID-19 spread

Added Safety Protocol to Protect Drivers and All Entrants to Company Facilities

Chattanooga, Tenn. (April 7, 2020) – U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: USX) the nation’s fifth largest asset-based truckload carrier by revenue, today announced it will begin administering CDC-recommended temperature checks for anyone entering its locations, including terminals, shops and dedicated sites. Implementation of the new protocol will begin April 7 at larger facilities, expanding quickly to all field locations.

The temperature reading is the latest addition to the company’s COVID-19 crisis plan, which includes preventive and response protocols.

“These daily temperature checks will accompany our existing health status questionnaires to help keep our drivers, maintenance teams, vendors and customers safe,” said U.S. Xpress Chief People Officer Amanda Thompson. “We’ll continue to monitor and take the necessary actions to protect all those in the supply chain working to support our fellow Americans.”

Before entrance into a facility, every person will be required to answer a health survey and submit to an infrared thermometer check. For those with a 100.4 or above temperature, they will be advised to return home and contact a health care provider. Their return to the facility will be handled on a case-by-case basis in consultation with management and/or human resources.

Temperature checks will employ the use of social distancing and proper protective equipment, such as gloves and face masks, to ensure a safe and efficient process.
